Anti Snap Locks Fitted in London: TS007 3-Star Cylinder Upgrades
Most uPVC and composite doors are locked by a euro cylinder, the barrel the key goes into. Standard cylinders have a weak point across the middle, and lock snapping is a known way of attacking them. An anti-snap cylinder is designed so that, if the outer part is attacked, a sacrificial section breaks away and the part that operates the lock stays protected. Mark fits TS007 3-star anti-snap cylinders, sized correctly to your door, as a straightforward upgrade.

TS007 is a British standard for door security hardware, and the stars tell you how much protection is built in. A 3-star cylinder carries the full rating on its own. A 1-star cylinder can reach an equivalent level when paired with 2-star security handles, which protect the cylinder face. For most homes, a 3-star cylinder is the simplest route because it does not depend on the handles. You can usually see the kitemark and stars stamped on the face of the cylinder.
Sizing matters as much as the rating. A euro cylinder is measured from its centre screw to each end, and the two sides are often different lengths. If a cylinder sticks out beyond the handle by more than a few millimetres, it gives an attacker more to grip, even on a good cylinder. Mark measures the door and fits a cylinder that sits close to flush with the handle on the outside, with the right length on the inside for a thumb turn or key.
Common reasons to upgrade are moving into a new home, where you don't know who still holds keys; lost or stolen keys; after a break-in or attempted break-in; or simply finding that your door still has a basic cylinder. A cylinder swap does not change your door, handles or frame, and new keys come with it. If you have just had a break-in and the glass is damaged too, our guide on what to do after a break-in covers the order to do things in.
An anti-snap cylinder only protects the door if the rest of the lock works. If your key is stiff, or the door only locks with a hard lift of the handle, the door or mechanism may need attention first. Our door and lock repairs page covers multipoint locks and gearboxes, and the multipoint lock guide explains how the cylinder works with the rest of the mechanism.

Frequently asked questions
What is an anti-snap lock?
It is a euro cylinder built with a sacrificial section, so that if the outside is attacked, that section breaks away and the part that works the lock stays intact. The door remains locked.
What does TS007 3-star mean?
TS007 is a British standard for door security. A 3-star cylinder meets the full rating on its own. A 1-star cylinder needs 2-star security handles alongside it to reach a similar level.
Can you fit an anti-snap cylinder to my existing door?
Yes. Most uPVC and composite doors use a standard euro profile, so the old cylinder slides out and the new one slides in. Mark measures first so the new cylinder is the right length for your door.
Will I get new keys?
Yes. A new cylinder comes with its own set of keys, so old keys stop working. That is one reason people upgrade after moving home or losing a key.
