Door Repairs & Lock Replacement Across London
Front, back and patio doors are the busiest thing in your house. When the lock stops turning, the door drops or the handle snaps we can put it right the same day — repairing the fault rather than selling you a whole new door.
- Multi-point locking mechanisms replaced (all major makes: Yale, ERA, Fullex, Winkhaus, Avocet, Maco, Roto)
- Snapped, seized or worn Euro cylinders upgraded to anti-snap 3-star cylinders
- Door hinges adjusted or replaced where the door has dropped
- Handles, letter plates, spy holes, keeps and gaskets refitted
- Emergency lockouts and burglary damage repairs across London
- Dropped or sticking uPVC doors realigned so they lock without lifting or forcing
- Cracked or misted door panels and door glass reglazed
Most 'my door won't lock' calls turn out to be a knackered gearbox in the multi-point mechanism, not the cylinder. We diagnose the fault, source the correct replacement part and fit it — usually in the same visit.
Nine times out of ten a uPVC door problem starts with alignment. The door drops a few millimetres on its hinges, the hooks and rollers stop meeting the keeps cleanly, and you start forcing the handle. Force it long enough and the gearbox inside the mechanism breaks — a £30 adjustment becomes a £150 mechanism swap. Getting it seen early genuinely saves money.
If your door has been forced or you've been locked out, we'll get you back in without damaging the door where possible, then fit new anti-snap cylinders and repair any damage to frame, hinges or lock plates.
How the repair works
- 1. Diagnose the fault Cylinder, gearbox, hinge, keep or frame — we find the actual problem before quoting.
- 2. Replace with the right part We match makes and models rather than fitting a generic mechanism that will fail in a year.
- 3. Realign and test Door adjusted so it opens, closes and locks smoothly from both sides.
Frequently asked questions
My key turns but the door won't lock — what is it?
Almost always the multi-point locking mechanism (gearbox) inside the door. The cylinder is fine — the strip of hooks and bolts along the edge of the door has failed. Straightforward for us to replace in one visit.
Do you fit anti-snap cylinders?
Yes — we only fit TS007 3-star or equivalent anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick cylinders on residential front doors. This is the single biggest security upgrade you can make.
Can you help if I've been broken into?
Yes. We prioritise burglary callouts across London — board-up first if needed, then full lock, frame and glass repair. We can also provide simple photos and invoicing for insurance.
My uPVC door won't lock unless I lift the handle hard — what is it?
The door has dropped slightly so the locking hooks are catching on the keeps. It usually needs hinge and keep adjustment. Keep forcing it and the gearbox will break, so it's worth sorting quickly.
How much does a uPVC door lock repair cost in London?
Adjustments start from around £85. A full multipoint mechanism replacement is typically £140–£220 fitted depending on the make and length. Fixed price agreed first.
